CROESO! WELCOME to the Temperance Cottage Studio website. A workshop offering a range of carefully researched, authentically crafted 'Welsh stick chairs'. Philip sources hard and soft woods with a certified provenance from within the south Wales area whenever possible. The smaller softwoods pieces are cut, turned and shaped while green, directly from his own garden, includes Ash and Hazel. The chairs are designed and built to be comfortable, with longevity in mind. The traditional Welsh structure is very stable and striking to look at. Coincidently, they make great conversation pieces! For the more adventurous collector, the form is ideal for adaption, modification and decoration for a more personalised touch.
Phil C is pleased to offer a range of basic workshop experiences for you to 'try your hand' at the different elements of making. Temperance Cottage holds a series of bookable 'open-days' throughout the year for you to try out a range of chairs, see the workshop, bake bread and have a chat.
